This one-day course, delivered by Dr Geoff Card, Card Geotechnics, will describe current best practice in the investigation and assessment of ground gases. It will enable construction professionals to make rational and informed decisions regarding developments on gassing sites. With the government pushing for more redevelopment on Brownfield sites, many house builders have been forced to build in close proximity to landfill sites or other sites where underground gases, are a potential threat. The course will cover aspects such as uncertainty regarding the extent of ground gas investigations required, the form that risk assessments should take and the choice of the most appropriate protection methods for developments.
