A one day course providing instruction in the interpretation and use of geological maps, their integration with topographical maps and the data that can be extracted from them for desk study purposes, combined with the interpretation of borehole logs from the area covered by the map.
About the course
Maps and borehole logs are amongst the most common forms of data available to those working in geotechnical and geo-environmental engineering. Confidence with their interpretation is essential and offers great benefits to those who can practice these skills safely. This course will enable you to assess your strengths and weaknesses in this work and assist you in improving your writing of reports based on such data. Over half the day will involve you practicing the skills you need – map reading, section drawing, BH log interpretation and report writing.
