Gain a framework for analysing and acting upon individual and collective responsibilities that inform decision-making on environmental dilemmas ranging from climate change to biodiversity loss. Examine the influence of cultural traditions on attitudes towards the natural environment and explore the relevance and use of contemporary ideas associated with sustainability, including systems thinking, communities of practice and ecological citizenship. You will look at more recent trends, including revived interests in virtue ethics and pragmatism, social learning, corporate responsibility, and environmental justice, drawing on these to explore debates on more environmentally responsible policy and action at the global and local levels.
