Two weeks left to register: edie's Corporate Power Purchase Agreements masterclass webinar
With businesses having doubled the record for annual power purchase agreements (PPAs) in 2018, edie is hosting a 45-minute masterclass on Thursday 5 September at 11 am to explore how Corporate Power Purchase Agreements (CPPAs) can push businesses towards their clean energy goals.
As businesses seek to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels by powering operations, systems and facilities with renewable energy, CPPAs are becoming an increasingly popular tool.
Businesses obtained 13.4GW of clean energy through power purchase agreements (PPAs) in 2018, more than doubling the record set in the previous year. Companies have signed contracts to purchase more than 32GW of clean power since 2008, an amount comparable to the generation capacity of the Netherlands, with 86% of this activity coming since 2015 and more than 40% in 2018 alone.
But what are Corporate Power Purchase Agreements (CPPAs) in the context of renewable energy? Which organisations are most suited to adopting CPPAs, and what are the business benefits of doing so?
To find out, edie is running a 45-minute masterclass on Thursday 5 September at 11 am. In association with energy company Ørsted, the masterclass will enable professionals to take forward plans for CPPAs and will look at the most important parts of an Agreement, including the various issues and stakeholders that need to be involved to make them a reality.
The masterclass, which will be broadcast live and delivered by an expert on the subject from Ørsted, will ensure that sustainability and energy professionals are able to confidently develop their own programmes and plans for CPPAs, through acquiring detailed knowledge of the need-to-know, core parts of an Agreement.
The session will also include a question and answer session.
- Understanding what a CPPA is and what it means for your business
- How a business should approach a CPPA and the key stakeholders involved
- The challenges of the Agreement
- The key business benefits of a CPPA
- How to choose a partner for a CPPA and what key decisions should be taken
- A live question and answer session
- James Evison, insight editor, edie (chair)
- Representative, Ørsted
The webinar is free-to-attend and will be available to watch on demand afterwards. You can register for the webinar here.
